In Australia and New Zealand it is over a billion dollars worth of fraud committed through loss of identity and that’s a significant number from people losing their passwords, having their identity stolen etc.Once that information is gone it is very, very hard to get back so protecting our identity is really key to our online safety as we go forward. - Anton van Deth, Symantec

Social media encourages us all to share information widely but some of that information could be enough to allow a criminal to steal our identity. Steven Lewis talks to Anton van Deth from Symantec about what users can do to protect themselves and what companies creating social networks need to consider when building them.

I don’t think we as a company, as IBM, could exist without social media and collaboration to be honest with you. So it is actually a phenomenal use of technology and more importantly it is a way of collaborating and getting your message across and your strategy for that matter. - David Boloker, IBM

In the second of our social media case studies, Steven Lewis interviews David Boloker, CTO, Emerging Internet Technologies Group, IBM, and Iwan Winoto, from IBM’s Sydney office.

The interview covers IBM’s use of social media internally, including blogs and podcasts but particularly wikis; and Boloker’s group’s external social media use in the form of its videos on YouTube.

Links to the external IBM blogs David mentions:

Irving Wladawsky-Berger
Rich Schwerdtfeger
